Warning: if you are on a diet please turn back now. These little suckers are honestly delicious, however, they are not for those who are trying to shed a few. This recipe came from my Grammy and is a perfect quick and easy dessert. The first time that I ever made these was for a bake sale while I was in beauty school and they were quite a hit. They really just come together in no time and would be pretty great for any occasion. I took them to work yesterday and everyone really liked them. Except for the girl with the peanut allergy. She wasn’t too happy about these as everyone else was moaning with delight.
The only thing that I changed in this recipe is that I used crunchy peanut butter. I thought this was pretty great and added an element of surprise. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of butterscotch so if I was making them for myself I think I would omit that and just double the amount of chocolate. Well, I hope you enjoy these, anything from Grammy’s recipe box is always guaranteed good. I’m pretty sure this recipe at one point was on the Rice Krispies box. I have to go now and watch this week’s episode of Downton Abbey, so obsessed. Enjoy!
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 6 cups Rice Krispies
- 1 cup butterscotch morsels
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate morsels
- Combine sugar and corn syrup in a three quart saucepan over moderate heat, stirring frequently until mixture begins to bubble. Remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter, mix well. Add Rice Krispies and stir until well blended. Press mixture into a buttered 13 x 9 pan.
- Melt chocolate and butterscotch over very low heat or over hot but not boiling water, stirring until well blended. Remove from heat, spread evenly over Rice Krispies mixture. Cool until firm. Cut into 48 bars.
